Synthwave

Synthwave is a style of electronic music that developed in the late 2000s and early 2010s. The style is heavily inspired by 1980s culture, incorporating elements of synth-pop, new wave, and retro-futuristic styles. It is characterized by its use of synthesizers and electronic drum machines, often featuring heavily distorted and layered synthesized bass lines and soaring, melodic synth leads. It typically features a nostalgic, futuristic, or dream-like aesthetic, often associated with science fiction and video games from the 1980s. The style has become popular in recent years, due in part to its use in soundtracks for popular films such as Stranger Things and Ready Player One.
