Sonny Rollins is an American jazz saxophonist and composer who has been a major figure in jazz since the 1950s. He has released over 30 albums throughout his career and has worked with many of the biggest names in jazz including Miles Davis, John Coltrane, and Thelonious Monk.

Sonny Rollins is best known for his albums Saxophone Colossus (1956), The Bridge (1962), and Way Out West (1957). Saxophone Colossus features the song "St. Thomas" which is one of his best known compositions. The Bridge was recorded after a two-year hiatus and features the songs "Without a Song" and "John S." Way Out West is Rollins' first album recorded in Los Angeles and features a classic cover of the song "I'm an Old Cowhand."
