Shriekback Vinyl Records

Shriekback is an English rock band formed in 1981 by Barry Andrews, Dave Allen, and Carl Marsh. They were initially part of the post-punk and new wave movements, but eventually developed a sound that was more pop-oriented. They have released 11 studio albums, 3 live albums, and several compilations.

Their 1984 album Jam Science is considered to be their breakout album, with songs like "Nemesis" and "Lined Up" becoming staples in their live shows. This was followed by 1985's Big Night Music which spawned the hit single "Something That I Said", as well as the lesser-known tracks "Evaporation" and "Lifelike". The band's most commercially successful album was 1988's Oil & Gold, which included the hits "My Spine (Is the Bassline)" and "The Big Sleep".

The band has remained active since the 80s, with their most recent studio album being 2014's Life in the Loading Bay. In 2017, they released a compilation of their greatest hits, titled Best of Shriekback 1981-2011.

An interesting fact about Shriekback is that they have had a number of different line-ups over the years, with Barry Andrews being the only constant member. Dave Allen, Carl Marsh, and Martyn Barker have all been part of the band at some point.
