Scientist Vinyl Records

The Scientist is a Jamaican reggae dub artist who was born in 1961 as Hopeton Brown. He began his music career as a sound engineer and producer, working with legendary producers such as King Tubby and Bunny Lee. His first release, “Life On Earth”, was released in 1979, and he has since released numerous solo albums, as well as collaborations with other artists.

Some of The Scientist's standout albums include The Exorcist (1984), Rids The World Of The Evil Curse Of The Vampires (1985) and Scientist Rids The World Of The Evil Curse Of The Vampires, Part II (1986). His songs “Killer Dub”, “The Exorcist” and “King Tubby Meets The Rockers Uptown” are among his most popular and widely known tracks.

An interesting fact about The Scientist is that he was the first artist to use a computer to sequence and program dub music, which is a form of electronic music that originated in Jamaica in the 1970s. He is also credited with popularizing the “echo chamber” effect in reggae music.
