Roy Buchanan (1939 - 1988) was an American guitarist and blues musician. He is widely considered a pioneer of the Telecaster sound, and his highly expressive style of guitar playing influenced many other guitarists. His most successful albums were A Street Called Straight (1975) and Loading Zone (1977).

Buchanan's best known songs include "The Messiah Will Come Again", "When a Guitar Plays the Blues", "Sweet Dreams", "Five String Blues", "Hey Joe", and "Roy's Bluz". He also performed a widely acclaimed version of "Pete's Blues", a song originally written and performed by Pete Drake.

An interesting fact about Roy Buchanan is that he was inducted into the Musicians Hall of Fame and Museum in 2008, becoming the first posthumously inducted artist in the Hall's history.
