  • To mark the 40th anniversary of the classic album "Thick As A Brick", a sequel to the original album entitled "Thick As A Brick 2" will be released on March 30, 2012.

in 1972, Ian Anderson recorded a classic of progressive rock with the Jethro Tull album "Thick As A Brick". The lyrics centered around the fictional child protagonist Gerald Bostock. The album went on to top the Billboard charts and was a considerable success in a number of other countries.

Forty years later: what would Gerald Bostock, who would now be 50 years old, be doing today? How would he have fared in all that time? The "second" part of the album classic considers the most diverse possibilities of what the precocious schoolboy Gerald Bostock could have become, what paths he could have taken. In the various songs, the main character takes on different alter egos to illustrate the multitude of possible twists and turns that fate and chance have in store for a life. The songs not only illustrate Gerald's life, but also the developments in our own biographies, which often take completely new turns through chance encounters and interventions, even if they sometimes seem completely insignificant at first.

Ian Anderson on his new album: "When our generation looks back on their lives, they are bound to have the occasional 'what if' moment. Would we, like Gerald, have become a preacher, a soldier, a bum, a business owner or a financial tycoon instead of what we are? And all those of the internet and social networking generation might ponder what about the myriad opportunities that seem to present themselves at every turn."

As part of this release, Ian Anderson will perform "Thick As A Brick" live in its entirety for the first time since 1972, together with his bandmates John O'Hara (keyboards), David Goodier (bass), Florian Opahle (guitar) and Scott Hammond (drums) - as well as some musical guests. Ian Anderson and his band will also present the sequel to the classic album live in the second part of the show.
