Pop Punk

Pop Punk is a subgenre of punk rock that incorporates elements of pop music. It typically features short, fast-paced songs with catchy choruses and melodic guitar hooks. Pop punk emerged in the mid-1990s as a combination of punk and pop, drawing influence from the likes of early punk acts such as the Ramones, the Sex Pistols, and the Buzzcocks as well as pop acts such as the Beach Boys and the Beatles. Since then, the genre has seen a surge in popularity, with bands such as Blink-182, Sum 41, and Green Day becoming major commercial successes. Pop punk is now widely associated with catchy hooks, distorted guitars, and anthemic lyrics, and continues to be a major influence in punk and rock music.
