Placebo is an English alternative rock band formed in London in 1994. The band currently consists of lead vocalist and guitarist Brian Molko, bassist Stefan Olsdal, and drummer Steve Forrest.

Placebo's first album, Placebo, was released in 1996 and was successful in the UK, spawning the hit single "Nancy Boy". The album was critically acclaimed and certified platinum in the UK. It also spawned the singles "36 Degrees" and "Pure Morning".
