Pete Shelley was an English singer, songwriter, and musician who was best known as the frontman of the English punk rock band, Buzzcocks. Formed in 1976, the band released four studio albums and nine singles, including their classic songs, “Ever Fallen in Love (With Someone You Shouldn’t’ve)” and “What Do I Get?”. Their first album, Another Music in a Different Kitchen, was released in 1978 and contained the singles “Orgasm Addict” and “What Do I Get?”. Their second album, Love Bites, was released in 1979 and contained their biggest hit, “Ever Fallen in Love (With Someone You Shouldn’t’ve)”. Their third album, A Different Kind of Tension, was released in 1980 and contained the singles “Harmony in My Head” and “Why Can’t I Touch It?”. Their fourth album, Trade Test Transmissions, was released in 1983. Pete Shelley was also known for his solo career and released three albums, Sky Yen (1980), XL1 (1983), and Heaven and the Sea (1988). His solo singles include “Homosapien” (1981) and “Telephone Operator” (1983). An interesting fact about Pete Shelley is that he wrote and produced a lot of the material for the Buzzcocks, and he was a multi-instrumentalist. He also wrote the song “Gonna Have a Good Time Tonight”, which was later covered by The Prodigy in 1997.
