Patti Smith Group Vinyl Records

The Patti Smith Group is an American punk rock band that was formed by Patti Smith in 1974. The original lineup included Smith, Lenny Kaye, Ivan Kral, and Jay Dee Daugherty. They released their debut album, Horses, in 1975 to critical acclaim. The album featured the single “Gloria”, which became a punk rock anthem.

The group released four more albums between 1976 and 1979, all of which were well-received. Standout albums include Radio Ethiopia (1976), which featured the single “Ask the Angels”, and Easter (1978), which featured the single “Because the Night”, which was co-written by Bruce Springsteen and became a top 10 hit in the US.

The group disbanded in 1979, but Patti Smith continued to have a successful solo career. She released a live album in 1996, entitled Live in Italy, which was recorded with the original Patti Smith Group lineup.

An interesting fact about the Patti Smith Group is that they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2007, making them the first female-fronted punk rock band to be inducted.
