Otto Klemperer Vinyl Records
Otto Klemperer (1885–1973) was a German-born conductor and composer who is widely regarded as one of the most influential conductors of the 20th century. He began his career as a pianist and eventually conducted the Berlin Philharmonic and the New York Philharmonic Orchestra. He is remembered for his interpretations of the works of Beethoven, Mozart, and Mahler.
Klemperer's most popular recordings include Beethoven's Symphony No. 9, Mozart's Requiem and Don Giovanni, and Mahler's Symphony No. 2 and Symphony No. 8. He also made important recordings of works by composers such as Mendelssohn, Schumann, Schubert, and Wagner.
One of Klemperer's most popular recordings is the 1960 recording of Beethoven's Ninth Symphony. This recording, which was made with the London Philharmonic Orchestra, has been praised for its dramatic intensity and is considered one of the finest interpretations of the work.
An interesting fact about Klemperer is that he was a noted vegetarian and advocate of animal rights. He refused to perform in any hall that served meat and even refused to wear a fur-lined coat.
