Nick Lowe is an English singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist. He is best known as the co-founder of the independent record label Stiff Records and a member of the influential pub rock band Brinsley Schwarz. Lowe's most critically acclaimed and commercially successful albums include Jesus of Cool (1978), The Abominable Showman (1981), and Party of One (1990). His most popular songs include "Cruel to Be Kind" (1979), "Half a Boy and Half a Man" (1983), and "What's So Funny 'Bout Peace, Love and Understanding" (1979). An interesting fact about Nick Lowe is that he was the producer behind Elvis Costello's breakthrough album My Aim Is True (1977). He also co-wrote and produced several hits for the British band The Pretenders, including "Brass in Pocket" (1979).
