After their great debut album "The Olympians" from 2016 on Daptone Records, the band around frontman Toby Pazner is finally back with a brand new album!
After the success of his debut album, Pazner spent the next few years exploring the musical cosmos - writing songs with Lee Fields and accompanying him on tour as a keyboardist. He also started a family during this time. This series of life-changing events paved the way for the upcoming album "In Search of a Revival" (Daptone Records). This time, a full 10 years after the release of his self-titled debut album, Pazner composed, arranged and produced the entire album himself.
With musicians already featured on the debut, as well as a handful of friends and collaborators he's met on his musical journey, he formed a 17-piece ensemble of the best musicians on the scene. While "The Olympians" was heavily influenced by the classic soul style of Curtis Mayfield and James Brown, "In Search of a Revival" borrows from the golden era of the Wrecking Crew, the lush textures of Gold Star Studios, vintage film scores and the more obscure corners of cinematic soundscapes. From the cascading harp sounds that open "Sirens of Jupiter" to the driving horns of "Sagittarius By Moonlight", The Olympians deliver a new sound all their own: an ancient dream of distant Greece painted in lush, cinematic arrangements over hard rhythms.
"In Search of a Revival" is well on its way to becoming another Daptone classic - an album that not only honors the traditions of instrumental soul, but also sets a bold new standard for the genre in the years to come.
