El-P – Fantastic Damage (2xLP)

El-P with a re-release for the 15th anniversary on double LP! Though "I'll Sleep When You're Dead" is (slightly) more textured and melodic than its predecessor, El-P's production is still among the most jarring in hip-hop, and his themes and shadings remain black, haunted by the prospect of a dystopian near future: cigarettes are extinguished on wet palms, prisoners are raped before their execution, and El-P - our mad, sometimes indecipherable narrator - sticks his head out of a tire and screams "freedom is mine."

In this world, as in ours, we move in the fast lane "with doom and disease". As El-Producto says: "The whole design made my mind cry."
