Change – The Glow of Love is the 1980 debut album from the Italian-American ensemble Change, and it’s widely seen as a standout post-disco / soulful dance classic that helped bridge disco into the 1980s with R&B, funk and sophisticated production. It spawned multiple dance chart hits, features Luther Vandross on lead vocals for some of its most memorable moments, and showcases a slick blend of Chic-inspired grooves, lush vocals and rich arrangements.
Musically, the album balances bright, dancefloor-ready tracks (“A Lover’s Holiday”) with smooth, soulful grooves (“The Glow of Love”), giving it both immediacy and warmth that has helped it endure past the disco era’s peak. Its success on the US dance charts and its nods from critics and enthusiasts alike have made it a favourite on reissue shelves and among collectors of early-80s R&B/disco hybrid records.
