Nancy Wilson is an American singer, songwriter, and guitarist who rose to fame in the 1960s and 1970s with her bluesy, soulful singing style. She was born in San Francisco, California, in 1937, and started her career in the late 1950s as a vocalist for the all-female jazz group the Dinah Washington Quartet.

Wilson's career reached its peak in the mid-1960s when she signed with Capitol Records and released her first solo album, Like in Love, in 1960. She went on to become one of the most successful female artists of the era, releasing several albums and singles that charted in the Billboard Hot 100, including the No. 3 hit "How Glad I Am" (1964).

Her standout albums include the Grammy Award-winning Nancy Now! (1988), which featured the hit single "Now I Know What Love Is," and the Grammy-nominated How Glad I Am (1965). She also released a series of live albums in the 1970s, including the critically acclaimed Live at the Bitter End (1974).

An interesting fact about Wilson is that she was the first African American woman to be featured on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine in 1977. She was also the first woman to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1987.
