Mulatu Astatke Vinyl Records

Mulatu Astatke is an Ethiopian musician and arranger widely considered to be the father of Ethio-Jazz. He was born in 1943 in the Ethiopian city of Jimma and grew up in a traditional Ethiopian musical household. He attended Trinity College of Music in London, where he studied classical music, ethnomusicology, and jazz. After his studies, he returned to Ethiopia and began experimenting with combining traditional Ethiopian music with jazz, funk, and soul.

Mulatu's most popular albums are Ethio Jazz (1975), Mulatu of Ethiopia (1972), and New York - Addis - London (2007). His standout songs include "Yekermo Sew", "Mulatu", and "Chifara".

An interesting fact about Mulatu Astatke is that he is credited with inventing a new musical genre, which he called "Ethio-Jazz". This genre has become increasingly popular in the past decade, with musicians from all over the world incorporating its sound into their own music.
