MC Hammer (real name Stanley Kirk Burrell) is an American rapper and dancer from Oakland, California who rose to prominence in the late 1980s and early 1990s. He is best known for his hit songs "U Can't Touch This" and "2 Legit 2 Quit". His hit album Please Hammer, Don't Hurt 'Em, released in 1990, was the first hip hop album to reach diamond status and it remains one of the best-selling rap albums of all time.
