Marian McPartland Vinyl Records
Marian McPartland (1918-2013) was an English-American jazz pianist, composer, and host of the National Public Radio show, "Piano Jazz." She was known for her technical proficiency, improvisational skill, and extensive knowledge of jazz.
McPartland's breakout album, Piano Jazz with Marian McPartland, was released in 1979. It featured renditions of classic jazz standards and was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Jazz Instrumental Performance. Her other notable albums include her 2004 collaboration with jazz pianist Bill Evans, Live at the Milton Court Concert Hall, and the 1999 album, Live at Shanghai Jazz.
McPartland also wrote several songs, including her best-known, "Twilight World". Other songs include "The Floral Dance", "The Little Things That Mean So Much", and "The Shadow of Your Smile".
An interesting fact about Marian McPartland is that she was the first female jazz artist to have a record contract with a major label, Capitol Records.
