Magazine Vinyl Records

Magazine is an English post-punk band formed in Manchester in 1977. The original lineup included vocalist Howard Devoto, guitarist John McGeoch, bassist Barry Adamson, and drummer Martin Jackson.

Magazine's debut album, Real Life, was released in 1978 and reached No. 28 on the UK Albums Chart. It featured their biggest hit single, β€œShot by Both Sides,” which reached No. 36 on the UK Singles Chart. The album also included the singles β€œMotorcade” and β€œPermafrost.”

Their second album, Secondhand Daylight, was released in 1979 and reached No. 20 on the UK Albums Chart. It featured the singles β€œA Song from Under the Floorboards,” β€œParade,” and β€œThe Light Pours Out of Me.”

The band's third and final album, The Correct Use of Soap, was released in 1980 and reached No. 10 on the UK Albums Chart. It included the singles β€œBecause You're Frightened,” β€œModel Worker,” and β€œRhythm of Cruelty.”

Magazine disbanded in 1981, with Devoto and McGeoch forming the short-lived band Luxuria, and Adamson going on to become a member of Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds.

An interesting fact about Magazine is that their debut single, β€œShot by Both Sides,” was the first single released on the independent record label, Fast Product.
