Kenny Clarke was a jazz drummer and bandleader born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 1914. He is considered one of the most influential drummers in jazz, as he was one of the first drummers to popularize the use of the ride cymbal to keep time. He is also credited as a pioneer of the "bebop" style of drumming.

Some of Clarke's standout albums include: "Klook's Clique" (1954), "Jazz From Carnegie Hall" (1955), and "The Golden Eight" (1957). His songs include "Klook's Theme," "Blue Moon," and "Temptation."

An interesting fact about Kenny Clarke is that he was the first jazz musician to record a drum solo in 1945. This recording, titled "Epistrophy," became an instant classic and is still revered as one of the greatest jazz drum solos of all time.
