Kate & Anna McGarrigle Vinyl Records

Kate and Anna McGarrigle are Canadian folk singers and songwriters. Sisters Kate (b. 1944) and Anna (b. 1946) grew up in a large family in Montreal, Quebec. They began their musical career as a duo in 1974, releasing their debut album Kate & Anna McGarrigle.

Their most acclaimed album is 1976's Dancer with Bruised Knees, which featured the standout tracks "Kiss and Say Goodbye" and "Heart Like a Wheel". Their other well-known albums include Love Over and Over (1978) and Pronto Monto (1980). Their most successful single is "Heart Like a Wheel", which reached the top ten in Canada and the top fifty in the US.

The McGarrigles were known for their unique blend of folk, country, and rock music, and their intricate harmonies. They were also notable for their songwriting, penning tracks for such iconic Canadian artists as Bruce Cockburn, Emmylou Harris, and Linda Ronstadt.

An interesting fact about the McGarrigles is that they are the mother and aunt of Rufus and Martha Wainwright, both of whom have successful musical careers of their own. The McGarrigles also have a star on Canada's Walk of Fame.
