Jorge Ben, also known as Jorge Ben Jor, is a Brazilian singer, songwriter, and guitarist born in 1942. He is known for his innovative and influential fusion of samba, bossa nova, funk, rock, and psychedelia. He is one of the most popular and influential Brazilian artists of all time.

Some of his standout albums include A Tábua de Esmeralda (1974), which was the first record he made after leaving his former label, and Samba Esquema Novo (1963), which is widely regarded as one of the finest Brazilian albums of all time. Other notable albums include África Brasil (1976), Solta o Pavão (1972), and Ben Jor (1976).

Some of his most popular songs include "Mas Que Nada" (1963), "Chove Chuva" (1969), and "Taj Mahal" (1969).

An interesting fact about Jorge Ben is that he wrote the music for the 1978 FIFA World Cup anthem, "Todos Juntos (Everybody Together)." He was commissioned to do this by Brazilian president Ernesto Geisel.
