Johnny Hodges Vinyl Records

Johnny Hodges was an American jazz saxophonist and composer best known for his solo work with Duke Ellington's Orchestra. He was born in Cambridge, Massachusetts in 1906 and began playing the alto saxophone at the age of 14. He joined Ellington's Orchestra in 1928 and remained a member for nearly 40 years. During his tenure with Ellington, Hodges contributed several signature solos to the band's records, including "Jeep's Blues" and "Don't Get Around Much Anymore".

Hodges' solo career began in the late 1940s, and he released many albums over the course of his lifetime. Some of his standout albums include 'Johnny Hodges and Strings' (1955), 'Back to Back' (1959), and 'The Big Sound' (1960). His most popular songs include "Jeep's Blues", "Castle Rock", "Jeepers Creepers", and "A Flower Is a Lovesome Thing".

An interesting fact about Johnny Hodges is that he was inducted into the Down Beat Jazz Hall of Fame in 1961. He was also the first jazz musician to be honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
