John Carpenter is an American film director, screenwriter, producer, composer and editor. He is widely known for his cult classic horror films such as Halloween, The Fog, Escape from New York and The Thing. He has also written and directed various other genre films such as Big Trouble in Little China and They Live.

Carpenter's musical career began in 1978, when he composed and performed the score for his own film, Halloween. He has since released several studio albums, including Lost Themes (2015), Lost Themes II (2016), Anthology: Movie Themes 1974-1998 (2017), and Lost Themes III: Alive After Death (2021). His standout albums include Lost Themes, which features the popular tracks "Vortex" and "Night", as well as Anthology: Movie Themes 1974-1998, which includes classics such as "Assault on Precinct 13" and "The Fog".

An interesting fact about John Carpenter is that he was the first person to receive an Oscar nomination for Best Music, Original Song Score and Its Adaptation or Adaptation Score for his work on the 1978 film, Halloween.
