Idris Muhammad (born Leo Morris, 1939–2014) was an American jazz drummer who played with many of the greatest jazz artists of his time, including Cannonball Adderley, Lou Donaldson, Grant Green, Pharoah Sanders, and Ahmad Jamal. His first professional gig was with saxophonist Earl Bostic in 1957.

Muhammad’s solo career began in 1969 with his debut album, Power of Soul. He released many other albums during his career, including Turn This Mutha Out (1976), Black Rhythm Revolution (1975), and Boogie To The Top (1979).

Some of Muhammad’s standout songs include “Power of Soul”, “Boogie To The Top”, “We Got The Funk”, and “Fool On The Hill”.

An interesting fact about Idris Muhammad is that he also worked with Bob Marley and The Wailers as a session drummer. He was featured on the albums Natty Dread, Rastaman Vibration, and Babylon by Bus.
