Ian Hunter is an English singer, songwriter, and musician best known as the lead singer of the glam rock band Mott the Hoople from 1969 to 1974. After leaving the band, Hunter embarked on a solo career that has spanned four decades and counting.

Hunter's solo career began with his 1975 debut album, Ian Hunter, which included the hit single "Once Bitten, Twice Shy". The album was a commercial success and earned him his first Gold disc. His next album, All American Alien Boy, was released in 1976 and featured "Cleveland Rocks", which would become Hunter's signature song.

Notable albums throughout his career include Short Back 'N' Sides (1981), YU-Gung (Eve of Destruction) (1983), and Rant (2001). His most recent album, Fingers Crossed, was released in 2020.
