Graham Parker and The Rumour are an English pub rock band, formed in London in 1975. They are best known for their 1977 album, Heat Treatment, which spawned the hit single "Hold Back the Night".
The band was formed by Graham Parker, who had previously been in the band The Black Cat Bones, and had been signed to Mercury Records. The band released three more albums during the late 1970s and early 1980s, Squeezing Out Sparks (1979), The Up Escalator (1980) and Another Grey Area (1982). Their final studio album, Steady Nerves, was released in 1986.
Some of their standout songs include "Heat Treatment," "Hold Back the Night," "Passion Is No Ordinary Word," "Local Girls," and "Mercury Poisoning."
