Gordon Lightfoot is a Canadian folk-rock singer-songwriter who has been performing and writing music since the 1960s. He has released 17 studio albums and achieved international success with songs such as “If You Could Read My Mind,” “Sundown,” “Carefree Highway” and “The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald.”

Lightfoot’s standout albums include the 1968 album “Lightfoot!” which features “For Lovin’ Me,” “Ribbon of Darkness” and “Did She Mention My Name,” and the 1970 album “Sit Down Young Stranger” which includes the songs “If You Could Read My Mind,” “Me and Bobby McGee” and “Cold on the Shoulder.” His 1976 album “Summer Side of Life” contains “Carefree Highway,” “Beautiful” and “The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald.”

An interesting fact about Gordon Lightfoot is that he was inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame in 1986 and the Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame in 2001. He was also made a Member of the Order of Canada in 1991 and a Companion of the Order of Canada in 2003. He has also been honored with the Governor General’s Performing Arts Award and the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal.
