The band is best known for their hits “New Orleans”, “Trouble”, “No Laughing in Heaven” and “Smoke on the Water”.
Gillan’s first album, Mr. Universe, was released in 1979. It featured the hit single “New Orleans” and reached No. 4 in the UK album charts. The follow-up, Glory Road, was released in 1980 and was the band’s highest charting album, reaching No. 3. The album spawned the hits “Trouble” and “No Laughing in Heaven”.
Gillan’s most successful album was their third, Magic, released in 1981. It featured the hit single “Smoke on the Water” and reached No. 2 in the UK charts. The album also included the tracks “If I Sing Softly” and “Puget Sound”.
