Gene Vincent (born Eugene Vincent Craddock) was an American rock and roll pioneer and pioneer of the rockabilly genre. He was born in Norfolk, Virginia in 1935 and began his career in the mid-1950s, becoming one of the first white singers to be accepted in the African-American dominated rhythm and blues scene. His first hit single, "Be-Bop-A-Lula," was a major hit in 1956 and is still considered one of the most influential rockabilly songs of all time.

Gene Vincent's most successful album was 1956's Bluejean Bop!, which featured the hit single "Be-Bop-A-Lula" and other memorable tracks such as "Race With The Devil" and "Lotta Lovin'." His other notable albums include 1958's A Gene Vincent Record Date, 1961's Gene Vincent Rocks and the Blue Caps Roll, and 1965's Dressed in Black.

Gene Vincent's best-known songs include "Be-Bop-A-Lula," "Lotta Lovin'," "Race With The Devil," "Dressed in Black," and "Bluejean Bop!" His songs were covered by many other artists, including Elvis Presley, Eddie Cochran, and the Beatles.

An interesting fact about Gene Vincent is that he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1998. He was one of the first rockabilly singers to be inducted into the prestigious hall of fame.
