Fritz Reiner Vinyl Records

Fritz Reiner (1888-1963) was an Austrian-born American conductor who is widely considered to be one of the greatest conductors of the 20th century. He was a professor at the Curtis Institute of Music and the director of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra from 1953 to 1962.

Reiner's most notable recordings include the complete orchestral works of Claude Debussy, Maurice Ravel, Johannes Brahms, and Richard Strauss, as well as many works by George Gershwin and Igor Stravinsky. His most popular recordings include his interpretations of Franz Liszt's Totentanz and Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture. Reiner is also known for his recordings of the operas of Richard Wagner, particularly Tristan und Isolde and The Ring of the Nibelung.

An interesting fact about Reiner is that he was a big advocate for modern composers, often including their works in his performances. He was a champion of the works of Béla Bartók, Paul Hindemith, and Arnold Schoenberg, among others.
