Erich Leinsdorf Vinyl Records

Erich Leinsdorf (1912-1993) was an Austrian-born American conductor. He began his career in Germany, becoming a répétiteur for the Berlin State Opera, before emigrating to the United States in 1937. There, he became a conductor for the Cleveland Orchestra, the Metropolitan Opera, and the Boston Symphony Orchestra.

Leinsdorf was widely regarded as one of the greatest conductors of the 20th century. He was especially known for his interpretations of the works of Gustav Mahler, Richard Strauss, and Johannes Brahms. Leinsdorf conducted over 200 recordings, many of which have been released as albums. Notable recordings include Strauss's Ein Heldenleben, Mahler's Symphony No. 6, and Brahms's Symphony No. 4.

An interesting fact about Leinsdorf is that he was one of the few conductors to have worked with both the Cleveland Orchestra and the Boston Symphony Orchestra. He conducted the Cleveland Orchestra for eight years, from 1945 to 1953, before taking the podium at the Boston Symphony Orchestra from 1962 to 1969.
