Enya is an Irish singer-songwriter and musician from the small village of Gweedore in County Donegal, Ireland. She began her career in 1980 as a member of the family band Clannad, but left in 1982 to pursue a solo career.

Enya has released eight solo albums since her debut in 1988. Her most successful album, Watermark (1988), spawned the international hit "Orinoco Flow" and earned her a Grammy Award for Best New Age Album. Her 2000 album, A Day Without Rain, has sold over 11 million copies worldwide and was certified 8× platinum in the US. Other standout albums include Shepherd Moons (1991) and Amarantine (2005).

Enya's music is often categorized as "Celtic New Age", combining traditional Irish music with elements of classical and pop music. She has sold over 80 million albums worldwide, making her one of the world's best-selling artists of all time.

An interesting fact about Enya is that she does not perform live concerts. She has stated that she does not enjoy the spotlight and prefers to stay in the studio.
