Ellen Foley is an American singer, songwriter and actress who has released five studio albums and numerous singles since 1979. She is best known for her duet with Meat Loaf on the hit single “Paradise by the Dashboard Light”, as well as her solo hits “What’s a Matter Baby” and “We Belong to the Night”.

Foley's debut album, Nightout, was released in 1979. It featured the singles “What’s a Matter Baby” and “We Belong to the Night”, both of which were Top 40 hits. Her follow-up album, Spirit of St. Louis, was released in 1981 and included the single “Pickin’ Up the Pieces”, which reached the Top 20.

Her third album, Another Breath, was released in 1983 and featured the single “Don’t Let Go”, which reached the Top 40. Her fourth album, Uncovered, was released in 1985 and included the single “The Boys of Summer”, which reached the Top 10. Her fifth and most recent album, Beyond the Pale, was released in 1987 and included the singles “What’s a Matter Baby” and “We Belong to the Night”.

Foley has also appeared in several films, including National Lampoon’s Vacation, Pink Floyd The Wall, and The Idolmaker.

An interesting fact about Ellen Foley is that she was the first woman to ever sing with Bruce Springsteen on stage. She sang backing vocals with Springsteen during his 1975 concert at the Bottom Line in New York City.
