Electroclash

Electroclash is a musical genre that combines elements of electro, new wave, and synthpop. It emerged in the late 1990s as a form of dance music, heavily influenced by the 1980s style of new wave and synthpop. The sound is characterized by heavily distorted synthesizers, robotic and/or exaggerated vocals, and drum machines.

The genre first gained recognition in the late 1990s, when several underground clubs in the United Kingdom and the United States began to promote the sound. The genre was popularized by artists such as Felix da Housecat, Miss Kittin, and Peaches, and the style was often associated with the fashion of the time, featuring bright colors, metallic fabrics, and plastic accessories.

Electroclash enjoyed a brief period of mainstream success in the early 2000s, with artists such as Ladytron, Fischerspooner, and The Faint gaining radio play. The genre faded from the mainstream by the mid-2000s, but it has continued to be influential in underground electronic music scenes.
