El Michels Affair is an American instrumental soul music group formed in 2003 in Brooklyn, New York City. They are best known for their soul-infused take on hip-hop, funk and jazz.

The band is led by producer/multi-instrumentalist/composer Leon Michels and his core backing band, The Shacks. The group has released four full-length albums and two EPs, as well as several singles.

The group's first album, Sounding Out the City, was released in 2005 on Truth & Soul Records. The album featured reinterpretations of classic soul and R&B songs, such as "C.R.E.A.M." by Wu-Tang Clan and "Take Me With You" by The Dells.

Their second album, Enter the 37th Chamber, was released in 2009 on the same label. It featured more classic soul and hip-hop songs, such as "T.R.O.Y." by Pete Rock & CL Smooth and "Fool's Paradise" by The Sylvers.

The group's third album, Return to the 37th Chamber, was released in 2014 on Fat Beats Records. The album featured the group's signature soul-infused take on hip-hop, funk and jazz, and was highlighted by the single "C.R.E.A.M. Pt. 2."

Their fourth album, Yeti Season, was released in 2018 on Big Crown Records. The album featured reinterpretations of classic jazz songs, such as "Nautilus" by Bob James and "Povo" by Herbie Hancock.
