Donna Summer (1948-2012) was a renowned American singer, songwriter and actress, who rose to prominence in the 1970s with her debut album Lady of the Night. Summer became the first artist to have four consecutive number one singles on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart and the first woman to earn a Grammy Award for Best Rock Vocal Performance.

Summer's breakthrough album was Bad Girls (1979), which featured her iconic songs β€œHot Stuff” and β€œBad Girls”. This album is considered to be one of the most influential disco albums of all time and is credited for bringing the genre to mainstream audiences. Summer followed up with other successful albums such as On the Radio: Greatest Hits Volumes I & II (1979) and The Wanderer (1980).

Some of Summer’s most well-known songs include β€œI Feel Love” (1977), β€œShe Works Hard for the Money” (1983) and β€œLast Dance” (1978).

An interesting fact about Donna Summer is that she was the first artist to have three consecutive double albums reach number one on the Billboard chart. She is also the only artist to have achieved this feat twice.
