Death Cab for Cutie is an American alternative rock band formed in 1997 in Bellingham, Washington. The band consists of Ben Gibbard (vocals, guitar, piano), Nick Harmer (bass), Dave Depper (guitar, keyboards, backing vocals), Zac Rae (keyboards, guitar, backing vocals) and Jason McGerr (drums).

Death Cab for Cutie’s breakout album was their fourth studio album, Transatlanticism (2003). This album featured the songs “The New Year” and “The Sound of Settling”, which became the band’s most recognizable songs. Their following album, Plans (2005), featured the singles “Soul Meets Body” and “Crooked Teeth”. The band’s other popular albums include Narrow Stairs (2008), Codes and Keys (2011) and Kintsugi (2015).

Their most popular songs include “Soul Meets Body”, “The Sound of Settling”, “I Will Follow You Into the Dark”, “Crooked Teeth”, “I Will Possess Your Heart”, and “Black Sun”.

An interesting fact about Death Cab for Cutie is that their name was inspired by a song of the same name by the British band The Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band. The song was featured in the Beatles’ 1967 film Magical Mystery Tour.
