Daniel Johnston Vinyl Records

Daniel Johnston is an American singer-songwriter, musician, and artist from West Virginia who is most widely known for his lo-fi, indie rock and outsider music. He was born in Sacramento, California in 1961 and was raised in West Virginia, where he began recording music in the early 1980s. His career began to take off after his home-recorded tapes were passed around and noticed by the likes of Nirvana's Kurt Cobain and Sonic Youth. Johnston's standout albums include Hi, How Are You (1983), Yip/Jump Music (1983), and Fun (1994). His most popular songs include "True Love Will Find You in the End", "Casper the Friendly Ghost", "Walking the Cow", and "The Story of an Artist". An interesting fact about Daniel Johnston is that he was diagnosed with manic depression and has struggled with mental illness throughout his career. He has used his music as a form of self-expression and therapy, and many of his songs deal with themes of heartbreak, loneliness, and depression.
