Cymande Vinyl Records

Cymande is a British funk/reggae group formed in 1971 in London. The group was composed of musicians from the Caribbean, the United Kingdom, and Africa. Their sound was a fusion of funk, reggae, and jazz, and they are considered pioneers of the jazz-funk genre.

Cymande's two studio albums are Cymande (1972) and Second Time Round (1973). Their self-titled debut album contains the classic funk hit "The Message," which has been sampled by numerous hip-hop artists over the years. Other standout tracks on the album include "Bra", "Fug", and "Brothers on the Slide".

Second Time Round features the singles "Getting It Back" and "Rastafarian Folk Song". Other standout tracks include "Dove", "Listen", and "Zion I".

An interesting fact about Cymande is that the group's name is a combination of two West African words, "cym" (meaning "dance") and "ande" (meaning "go").
