Contemporary Jazz

Contemporary jazz is a musical style that combines elements of jazz, rock, funk, and world music. It emerged in the late 1960s and early 1970s as jazz musicians began to explore the growing influence of rock and funk music on jazz. By combining traditional jazz sounds with funk, rock, and other genres, contemporary jazz has become a vibrant, diverse genre. Artists like Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock, Weather Report, and Chick Corea were some of the pioneers of the style. Contemporary jazz has since grown to include many subgenres such as acid jazz, smooth jazz, and fusion.
