Concentus Musicus Wien Vinyl Records

Concentus Musicus Wien (CMW) is an Austrian early music ensemble founded in 1953 by Nikolaus Harnoncourt and Alice Hoffelner. Based in Vienna, CMW has earned international acclaim for their performances of Renaissance and Baroque music.

CMW has released over 150 albums, many of which have won awards. Their critically acclaimed recordings include the complete cycle of Bach's Brandenburg Concertos, Vivaldi's Four Seasons, and Handel's Messiah. They have also released recordings of repertoire by Monteverdi, Schütz, and Telemann, as well as a number of historically informed performances of works by Mozart, Haydn, and Beethoven.

Some of CMW's standout songs include Bach's “Air on the G String”, Vivaldi's “Summer” from the Four Seasons, and Handel's “Hallelujah Chorus” from Messiah.

An interesting fact about CMW is that they are the first early music ensemble to receive a Grammy Award. They won a Grammy in 1979 for their performance of Bach's Brandenburg Concertos.
