Coldplay is a British rock band formed in London in 1996. The band consists of lead vocalist and pianist Chris Martin, lead guitarist Jonny Buckland, bassist Guy Berryman, and drummer Will Champion. The band rose to fame in 2000 with their debut album, Parachutes, which sold over 8 million copies worldwide and featured the hit single “Yellow.” Their 2002 follow-up, A Rush of Blood to the Head, was even more successful, selling over 15 million copies worldwide and featuring the singles “Clocks” and “The Scientist.”

The band continued their success with the 2005 album X&Y, which sold over 10 million copies worldwide and featured the hit singles “Speed of Sound” and “Fix You.” In 2008, they released their fourth studio album, Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends, which sold over 8 million copies worldwide and featured the hit singles “Viva la Vida” and “Lovers in Japan.” Their 2011 album Mylo Xyloto was even more successful, selling over 8 million copies worldwide and featuring the singles “Paradise” and “Every Teardrop Is a Waterfall.”

Coldplay’s most recent album is their 2015 album A Head Full of Dreams, which has sold over 6 million copies worldwide and featured the hit singles “Adventure of a Lifetime” and “Hymn for the Weekend.”

The band has won numerous awards over the years, including 7 Brit Awards, 7 Grammy Awards, and 4 MTV Video Music Awards.
