Coldcut Vinyl Records
Coldcut are an English electronic music duo formed in London in 1986 by Jon Moore and Matt Black. They are credited with pioneering the development of the dance music genre known as ‘trip hop’. The duo are best known for their hit single “People Hold On” featuring Lisa Stansfield, which was released in 1989 and reached number 14 on the UK Singles Chart. They have also released five studio albums: What’s That Noise? (1989), Philosophy (1992), Let Us Play! (1997), Sound Mirrors (2006) and Only Heaven (2010).
Their standout albums include What’s That Noise? and Let Us Play!. What’s That Noise? includes the hit single “People Hold On”, as well as “Stop This Crazy Thing”, “Say Kids What Time Is It?” and “Doctorin’ the House”. Let Us Play! features “Atomic Moog 2000”, “More Beats & Pieces” and “Timber”.
An interesting fact about Coldcut is that they are the first act to ever release a record on Ninja Tune, a British independent record label that they founded in 1990. They have also collaborated with many artists over the years, including Roots Manuva, Steinski, Junior Reid, Mark E. Smith and more.
