Clifford Curzon was an English classical pianist who was born on May 13th, 1907 in London, England. He was known for his elegant, refined and highly lyrical interpretations of the Classical and Romantic repertoire. He was considered one of the greatest interpreters of Mozart and Beethoven.
Curzon's standout albums include his interpretations of Mozart piano sonatas, recorded in 1955 and 1957, and his interpretation of the Diabelli Variations by Beethoven, recorded in 1962. His recordings of works by Chopin, Schubert, and Schumann are also highly acclaimed.
Curzon's most memorable recordings include his interpretations of works by Schubert, including the "Wanderer" Fantasy and the "Unfinished" Symphony, and his performance of Beethoven's Piano Sonata No. 32 in C Minor, Op. 111.
