Carl Orff Vinyl Records

Carl Orff (1895-1982) was a German composer, best known for his innovative approach to music education and his monumental opera, Carmina Burana. He studied music at the Munich Conservatory and then taught music at several institutions. He developed a pedagogical approach to music education that emphasized the use of body movement, chant, and percussion instruments.

Orff's most famous work is his cantata, Carmina Burana, which was composed in 1935 and premiered in 1937. It is a collection of 24 medieval Latin poems set to music. It is one of the most popular pieces of classical music and has been featured in many films and commercials.

Orff's other works include the opera Antigone (1949), the ballet Der Mond (1958), and the cantata Trionfo di Afrodite (1960). He also composed several works for the recorder, including the recorder suites Catulli Carmina and Trionfo di Afrodite.

An interesting fact about Carl Orff is that he was a member of the Nazi Party from 1933-1945. He was never charged with any war crimes and continued to compose music during the war.
