Canned Heat

Canned Heat is an American blues-rock band that was formed in Los Angeles in 1965 by Bob Hite and Alan Wilson. The band’s original lineup featured Bob “The Bear” Hite on vocals, Alan “Blind Owl” Wilson on guitar and harmonica, Henry Vestine on guitar, Larry Taylor on bass, and Frank Cook on drums. The band is most well-known for their performance at the Monterey Pop Festival in 1967 and their hits such as “On the Road Again”, “Going Up the Country”, and “Let’s Work Together”.

Canned Heat’s most successful album is 1968’s Boogie with Canned Heat which featured their biggest hit, “On the Road Again”. Other standout albums from the band include their 1967 self-titled debut album and 1969’s Living the Blues. Other notable songs from the band include “Going Up the Country”, “Let’s Work Together”, “Time Was”, and “Going Down Slow”.

An interesting fact about Canned Heat is that they have had a total of nine different members throughout the band’s history, the most well-known being original members Bob Hite and Alan Wilson.
