Cal Tjader Vinyl Records

Cal Tjader (1925-1982) was a pioneering Latin jazz vibraphonist and bandleader from San Francisco, California. He was one of the first Latin jazz musicians to gain mainstream success in the United States. He released over thirty albums and won five Grammy Awards. Some of Tjader's most popular albums include Soul Sauce (1964), El Sonido Nuevo (1966), and the Grammy-winning La Onda Va Bien (1980). His most well-known songs include "Soul Sauce," "Guachi Guara," and "Babalu." An interesting fact about Cal Tjader is that he was a member of the San Francisco chapter of the American Federation of Musicians. He was a leader in promoting Latin jazz to a wider audience and he has been credited with helping to create a greater appreciation for Latin music in the United States.
