Breakbeat

Breakbeat is a style of electronic music that emerged in the 1980s and early 1990s. It is characterized by a strong, driving beat and syncopated rhythms. Breakbeat often draws heavily on funk and soul samples, as well as hip hop and electro influences. Breakbeat is closely associated with the emergence of acid house, jungle, and drum and bass music. It has been a major influence on many different genres of dance music, including big beat, electroclash, and nu-skool breaks. Breakbeat has its roots in the early hip hop and electro scenes of the late 1970s and early 1980s. It was originally developed as a response to the repetitive and often monotonous 4/4 beats of house music.
